Real Wedding inspiration Board: Western Barn

So excited for this weekend's wedding. Stepping away from the shabby chic trend of 2011, their inspiration was filled with modern chic styling and the girls at Bliss couldn't be more excited. The mission was to incorporate barn elements into her indoor wedding and this inspiration board was the jumping point for us.

The Bliss team is working hard today putting on all the final touches so stay tuned! We'll be sharing some sneak peek photos of it as soon as we can.

Sugar Momma Pastries Stylized Shoot

Beautiful ladies. Beautiful sweets. Beautiful photography. Beautiful day. Plus there was an Ombre cake, one of my all time favorites so my heart was swooning with this set up. It was just one of those times that makes you fall in love again with what you do.

Thanks Sabrina and Pascale for inviting me to stylize your shoot; it was too much fun and I'm looking forward to more!

2012 Floral Trends

2012 promises to bring nothing other than beautiful, fresh and unique flair to all things floral. Over the past year, all sorts of non-floral bouquets popped up. Buttons, fabric, ribbon and even feathers. Handles were adorned with heirloom pieces, vintage brooches and even dog tags.

The evolution of the bridal bouquet and floral design is going through changes like never before. So throw caution to the wind straight out the window because this year is your chance to personalize your floral style and make it all about you. Or just make a statement. Because really, you're the bride and you get to do just that.

Here's some of the trends:

RUSTIC MODERN (NO LONGER RUSTIC CHIC!)

HIGH FASHION ROMANCE: OVERSIZED BLOOMS, FAIRYTALE STYLE

METALLICS: SILVER AND GOLD MIXED WITH WHITES OR SHIMMER SPRAY ON ALL AND ANYTHING GIVING A PEARLIZED EFFECT.

UNUSUAL BOUQUETS ARE HERE TO STAY

PATTERNS: THIS YEAR LINENS LEAD THE WAY BY BEING FIRST CHOICE FOLLOWED BY FLORAL DESIGN

COLOR CRAZE

A TWIST ON THE OLD STANDBY: JASMINE, SAGE, WHEAT, DAHLIAS, GARDEN ROSES

Pretty Push Pins

Being a wedding planner means you deal with details on top of details on top of details on top of .... well, you get the idea. So when I come across something that is pretty and helps in organization, I'm a bit of a sucker for it. Yellow continues to be a hot trending color and it's a splash of cheeriness on these dreary winter days. And if a pin that's holding notes in place also tells me that I'm loved and beautiful ... when then, I'm sold. I mean really, what else could you ask for?

Edible Cake Toppers

In the whole scheme of wedding planning, what is the most important decision to make? You're right, not cake toppers. However, they are the crowning glory on your cake which is a main attraction (other than yourselves, of course) during the reception. So my vote is to take advantage of this tiny detail to make a statement and customize it to be all you.

These fully customizable cake toppers are all hand crafted by Katie Something Sweet. Tell her what you'd like and she'll get you all fixed up. And while you're there, you may as well check out her cookies for a nice little take away for your guests. My guess is they're scrumptious!

Calligraphy Wedding Cakes

Scrumptious. Delicious. Yum. Calligraphied wedding cakes definitely isn't anything new, but everytime I see them I fall in love all over again. There isn't much more you could ask for; the perfect combination of design and delectables. Stationary and sweets, two of my favorite things all wrapped up in one bite.

All these creations are simply stunning. Love letters, vows and initials have all found their way of being worked into the dessert table. Vintage chic to contemporary, these cakes can easily be worked into the overall design of any wedding. What an amazing way to personalize your cake.

1950's RCA Victrola Record Player

I read the other day something that went along these lines....how can some be so disconnected from reality in a world that is so connected? Good question and I can think of a few that I may ask it to!

But that aside for the moment, it made me think about everything we have in the world today and what we do with it. Are we being smart with how we use what is at our fingertips and working more effectively? Or are we simply working harder and longer, having become slaves to it all? Probably all part of why I'm so drawn to vintage product - it comes with a certain lifestyle and feel that has great appeal to me. And so the simplicity of this vintage record player spoke volumes to me of a slower pace and simpler days. I can almost see the family dancing in their living room while the record slowly turns.

And the carrying case....love. I think I'd like one of those.

Vintage Pink Wedding

We first spotted this stunning wedding on Wedding Chicks and had share it with you because it embraces our two most favorite things. Pink and vintage.

The design is executed perfectly. I especially love all the wood tones with the pink accents. Antique clocks, suitcases, frames and wooden pedestals. And how cute is the dessert table? Cupcakes still in their tin surrounded by whisks and scales. The thoughtful details are endless and the collective impact would make any designer proud.

Simply scrumptious!
